RAM problems or upgrade
Try these steps in order. Stop if a step does not apply to your device or could risk important data.
- Shut down and unplug the PC.
- Touch bare metal on the case before touching RAM.
- Reseat each stick until the clips lock.
- For two matching sticks, use the recommended paired slots, commonly 2 and 4.
- Test one stick at a time if the PC will not boot.
- Run Windows Memory Diagnostic if crashes continue.
More help: Mixed RAM can work, but it may run slower or be less stable.
Back up important files before repairs that may affect storage or system settings.
